If you are involved in church planting, the last thing on your mind might be a website. There are many other things that take precedence over getting your church online, such as a location for your church, staff, funding, what the vision will be and the list goes on and on. However, don’t underestimate the value of having an online presence.
A website can help you get the word out about your new church. It’s certainly not the only way to approach letting others know, but today, it is a very popular and effective way. Let’s face it – the internet is becoming the “go to” place to find out about businesses and information, including new churches. So you don’t want to ignore this sought after method.
When you’re planting a church, I would imagine (and maybe I”m wrong) that one of the major concerns is “will anyone come?” It takes time to get the word out about your church, but having a website can speed up the process.
Let me say that I don’t believe a website can ever take the place of one-on-one interaction. By reaching out to individuals that are hurting or searching for a place to call home, this may be your greatest asset in building your church. But there are also people out there that you may never meet or have any connection with other than the world-wide web. That’s when having an effective and well-thought out website can be a huge benefit.
You will want to think about who it is that you want to reach. Are you looking to fill a need in a certain community or area? Are you looking to attract young families or youth? As you determine who it is you want to attract, you also need to think about what they will be looking for in a church. Many people will check out a church’s website before they visit in person. They will want to know what you have to offer such as ministries, outreach programs, worship style, etc. Give as much information on your website to help people decide whether your new church is for them.
You may want to argue that, with planting a church, you don’t have the time or skills to build a website, let alone thousands of dollars to spend on having one created for you. We understand! We will work with you so that you can have a great website but won’t walk away broke! We try to keep our prices very affordable so that you can share your message with people who need to hear it. We will take care of the technical side so that you can spend your time on all the other things you have to do. It would be our privilege to help you in your church planting efforts!
